Biochar mitigates the biotoxicity of heavy metals in livestock manure during composting

چکیده
Abstract The addition of biochar could mitigate the bioavailability heavy metals during livestock manure composting. However, main action mechanism biochar, such as how it worked, was ambiguous. Therefore, in this study, materials (biochar, alkali modified pretreated cotton ball) were added by embedding with nylon mesh bags to explore adsorption performance and its influence on composting process. results showed that embedded promoted formation humic acid reduced distribution proportion bioavailable fraction (Cu: at least 15.72%; Zn: 33.44%). surface extracted from contained attachments, however, attachment metal not detected functional groups did no change significantly. This indicated directly adsorb metals. Most notably, microbial network changed after materials, succession community acid. Ultimately, structural equation models verified through stable groups, thereby accelerating passivation study provides theoretical technical supports for mitigating biotoxicity Graphical

Speciation of heavy metals during co-composting of livestock manure
Heavy metals determination in manures provides benefi cial information to predict the availability and the potential contamination of environment. Therefore, a study was carried out to investigate heavy metals changes in livestock manure during a co-composting process. The metals were stepwise fractionated into exchangeable, adsorbed, organically bound, carbonate precipitated and residual forms...
متن کاملBiochar affected by composting with farmyard manure.
Biochar applications to soils can improve soil fertility by increasing the soil's cation exchange capacity (CEC) and nutrient retention. Because biochar amendment may occur with the applications of organic fertilizers, we tested to which extent composting with farmyard manure increases CEC and nutrient content of charcoal and gasification coke. Both types of biochar absorbed leachate generated ...
متن کاملBioavailability and Leachability of Heavy Metals during Composting – A Review
Composting is the best-known processes for biological stabilization of sewage sludge, municipal solid waste and other biodegradable wastes. Prepared compost can be used as a soil conditioner in agricultural applications. However, the presence of non-biodegradable and high level of toxic heavy metals in the compost frequently hinders agricultural land application. Uptake of heavy metals by plant...
متن کاملUptake of heavy metals by natural zeolite during agitated pile composting of water hyacinth composting
The studies were carried out on heavy metal bioavailability and leachability during water hyacinth composting mixed with cattle manure, sawdust and natural zeolite. The water hyacinth, cattle manure and sawdust were taken in the 6:3:1 ratio with 5, 10 and 15% natural zeolite and composted for 30 days. The concentrations of nutrients and total heavy metals were increased during the process. Due ...
